thetorturing，gnawingconsciousnessofguilt—

ofguilt，perhaps，whenwe'veinvolvedothers，

theyoung，theinnocent，whofondlylov'dus;

naymore，thatverylovetheircauseofruin!

oburninghell!inallthystoreoftorments

there'snotakeenerlash!

livesthereamansofirm，who，whilehisheart

feelsallthebitterhorrorsofhiscrime，

canreasondownitsagonizingthrobs;

and，afterproperpurposeofamendment，
